Hash songs

Hash songs are sung to get everyone in the mood for the festive events of the day. Typically these songs are tunes that you may have heard but never learned the proper words to. One of the benefits of being in the hash is to teach you the correct words that your mother never taught you (or ‘real’ meaning behind the songs). Some songs require stretching so you can absorb more liquid gold (beer), or limber up before the great chase.

It is customary to sing songs during the circle to award milestones (no matter how large or small), or issue violations (no matter how severe). The great part about singing is that you aren’t being critiqued (unless you aren’t singing-which may produce a violation itself). Don’t worry if you are new and don’t know the songs. Over time, you will get to know them and may find a few of your own favorites.

Below are some of the songs most popularly sung, but you may find others listed above under the Hash Songs tab. If you are interested in knowing more songs, please go to World Hash House Harriers for more information regarding the Hash Hymnal.
