HHH Mismanagement Committee Job Descriptions

Grand Master (GM)

• Absolute ruler of the Hash.
• Chairs MMC meetings.
• Blesses each run or instructs the RA to do so.
• Conducts the activities of the Circle.
• Welcomes newcomers/virgins/returners.
• Instructs the RA to conduct naming ceremonies.  It is the GM’s right to choose names but may decide to call for suggestions and a vote.
• Communicates with known/regular Hashers and other Kennels (when needed) especially by circulating an email before each run informing or reminding Hashers of the time, place, hares etc. as well as special events.

On Sec

• Shares responsibility for arranging MMC meetings; taking and circulating minutes thereof; ensuring that MMC decisions are executed; and corresponding with sister-Hashes, would-be newcomers etc

Hash Mattress

• Female counterpart to a male GM, acting as his deputy at his command or in the event of his absence, incapacity or death.
• Available to undertake unusual or unpleasant duties that do not fall within the responsibility of any other MMC member, eg organizing special events.

Religious Advisor (RA)

• Interprets and promotes the traditions of the Hash, makes up the rules (eg ‘There are no rules’) and enforces them.
• At the GM’s command, takes control of the Circle to punish sinners.
• Provides for punishments with/without any reason to keep the flock in shape.
• Leads the singing of traditional Hash songs (unless there is a Hash Songster).

Hash Cash (Treasurer)

• Collects run fees before every run.
• Keeps the Hash’s treasure safe and dispenses it for necessary expenditures.
• Maintains accounts and reports on the financial position at each MMC meeting and at the Annual General Piss-Up (AGPU).
• Maintains the Run Record and alerts the GM when Hashers are about to reach milestone runs – for naming or recognition.

Hare-Raiser

• Ensures that hares are available to set every run or sets a trail if can’t make them move
• Updates the hare record on the website (ie how many times each Hasher has hared a run).

Beermeister

• Ensures an adequate supply of beer, snacks and plastic cups at every Hash.
• Pours beer for down-downs.

Web Master

• Maintains the website in good working order.
• Ensures that all content is up-to-date.
• Facilitates uploading of news, photos etc by MMC members.

Hash Haberdasher[1]

• Within a budget set by the MMC, buys T-shirts and other Hash clothing or novelties to be sold or presented to Hashers.
• Has such items printed with special KH3 designs for special occasions or presentations.
• Arranges the purchase of name-necklaces etc on behalf of individual Hashers.

Hash Flash

• Takes photographs of each run and uploads selected pictures to the website within 3 days, in collaboration with Hash Trash.
• When other people are also taking photographs, liasises with them to ensure that the best of their pictures are also uploaded.
• When he/she will not be present at the run, deputises another person.

Hash Trash

• Writes an account of each run and puts it on the website within 3 days, in collaboration with Hash Flash.
• When he/she will not be present at the run, deputises another person.

Hash Songster

• Selects, translates and circulates the words of Hash songs to be performed in the Circle at the GM’s command.
• Uploads selected songs to the website
• Leads the singing in the Circle, ensuring that the sensibilities of individuals (especially horrors and their parents) are respected.
• In particular, leads the Hash Hymn when the GM declares the business of the Circle to be completed.

[1] According to the Concise Oxford Dictionary, a haberdasher is “a dealer in dress-making and sewing goods”.  In North America he/she is a dealer in men’s clothing.
